The Council of Better Business Bureaus and the American Kennel Club are advising consumers to be aware of e-mail scams involving puppies that need a home. The consumer is required to give money to a ‘breeder’ to cover the cost of shipping the dog to its new home. The fees for shipping the pet mount up and the consumer can lose hundreds of dollars and never receive the puppy. Don’t be conned, get to know your breeder before you purchase an animal. Anyone who has experienced a dog-related scam should report it to local authorities orwww.santabarbarabbb.org.
